History matters

I recently watched two-time Pulitzer Prize winner, David McCullough, being interviewed on 60 Minutes. He voiced his concern about how the younger generations knew so little about the history of our country. He said, “we are raising children in America today that are by and large historically illiterate.” He recommended that families spend time talking about their own histories. We need to  share stories of grandparents, great grandparents, and others we know and their roles witnessing history. Mr. McCullough once said, “History is the story of people,” so let’s start sharing our stories.
